Hello my lovelies,
This post is going to be about Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes.
ABH is very much known by the quality of their eyeshadows. But having in mind
the high price of their products, I thought that it could be useful to you, to
compare the ABH paletts which I have in my collection. I have the Modern
Renaissance, Soft Glam and Norvina palette.
Let me start with a few technicalities. Each of the pallets
comes with 14 shades. Regarding the amount of product, it is similar for all
pallets; in M.Renaissance each
shade weighs 0.7g, in S.glam 0.74g and in Norvina 0.71g. The price on the ABH
website is the same for all palettes: 42$. The packaging is the same velvet for
all of them. I personally love the feel and look of the packaging. I know that
they become dirty quite easily but I just use the make up wipe, and carefully
clean them. Every palette comes with a good quality dual ended brush.
Regarding
Soft glam palette, I would say that this is one of the best nude pallets for
everyday use out there. The colors in this palette are great for looks for work
or school but you can also create night looks. It is, what I like to call, an
easy palette to work with. You do not need to be a make up artist to be
inspired, as the shades are quite easy to combine. You have your softer shades
for everyday but there are also deep and shimmery shades for the smokey eye. I
personally, like to use shade tempera on the lid, burnt orange in the crease
and sienna on the outer corner of the eye and in the lash line. Or, I like to use mulberry shade on the lid,
cyprus umber and rustic in the crease and lash line and noir as an eyeliner for
a more smokey look. There are 9 matte shades and 5 soft shimmery shades (except
bronze which is more metallic). All
shades are pigmented nicely and are very easy to blend. I know that sometimes
people say that ABH shadows are too pigmented for everyday person, but I
actually disagree with that opinion. I think that when you are in a hurry for
work or school you want shades which are pigmented and require minimum amount
of work, you do not want shades which you need to build up 20 minutes. I love
make up and playing with it, but when I get up for work I do not have time for
whole process, and that’s why I think that this palette is perfect for
everyday. Another complain I have heard for the ABH shadows is that they become
muddy if you build several colors. I do not usually do that with the ABH
shadows because as I have already written I love their pigmentation and I do
not need to build them. The only flaw for the Soft glam I can see is that there
are not cool tone shadows, so if you want cool tone looks this is not going to
work for you. My least favorite shade from this palette is sultry because I
have this shadow in every single palette I own.
Regarding
Norvina palette, this is more playful, whimsical palette for make up lovers out
there. Yes, there are definitely shades which you can use for everyday like
incense, volatile, eccentric and passion. But I personally reach for this
palette when I feel inspired and crave for some interesting looks. I adore
purples so my favorite shades are soul and celestial. Regarding pigmentation,
this is quite interesting palette as there are few shades with most gorgeous
metallic sheen and you don’t need any fixing spray to make them pop. They look
amazing and those are rose gold, summer and dazzling. Celestial, wild child and
drama need a little bit of work as these are not pigmented as the others so I
like to apply them with fingers or really firm brush on the sticky eye base.
Mattes are same quality as other ABH shadows. I think that if you like these
shades you will like the palette. But if you are not drown to them, this
definitely isn’t for you. My favorite looks I do with this palette include
incense and soul in the crease, drama in
the outer corner and lash line and celestial on the lid.
Regarding
famous Modern renaissance palette, this is natural-ish palette. Here you get
great every day shades which are perfect for work or school and also you get
pretty red shades. You only get two soft shimmer shades. This palette is
perfect for those who like red and warm shades. But you also get cool tone
shadows. All eyeshadows are equally pigmented and easy to blend. I think that
this palette is perfect for everyday and for some nice red/pinkish looks. This
is definitely not your typical nude palette. My favorite warm tone everyday
look include burnt orange in crease, cyprus umber and red ochre in the outer
corner and tempera on the lid. My favorite cool tone look include buon fresco
all over the lid, warm taupe in the crease and antique bronze as an eyeliner.
Now, you do
get a few of the same shades in the Soft glam and Modern renaissance palette
and those are burnt orange, tempera and cyprus umber. All 3 palettes have
similar shades and I swatched them for you. They are not the same but they are
similar and those are base vs tempera, buon fresco vs dusty rose, incense vs
raw sienna, warm taupe vs volatile, eccentric vs burnt orange. Again, they are
not the same just similar.
Regarding
ingredients, these palettes are cruelty free but they are not vegan. Possible
allergens are dimethicone, phenoxyethanol, bismuth oxychloride, red 40 and
tocopherol.
In
conclusion, if you need nude palette for everyday and night looks, you want to
take the most use of the palette and you do not own a lot of nude palettes and
you like warm tone shadows I recommend the Soft glam. If you do own a lot of
nude palettes and you want to try ABH shadow formula and take the most use of
the palette and like red shade I recommend the modern renaissance palette. If
you like metallics, purples and fun looks, I recommend Norvina. Please note
that the Soft Glam and Modern Rennaisance are quite similar do if you have/own
one you do not need another as you can achieve a lot of similar looks with
them.
